Cascading Statuses in CRM 2013

Hi,

I would like to clarify whether it is possible to configure cascading statuses in CRM 2013 or not?

Ex. When a Parent Record is deactivated, we would like to deactivate associated child records.

Thank you in advance! Any help is highly appreciated!

I dont think you can do this OOB . But you could use  custom workflow that available in codeplex to execute workflow on the child records when parent record gets deactivated.

Anna, you can configure relationship behavior. Go to customizations, select the parent entity. Go to 1:N relationships. From the list of relationships find the relationship with the child entity you are looking for. Double click to open the relationship. Configure the "relationship behavior" in this form.

There is no way of doing this out of the box as Chitra says - even if you configure the cascade behaviour in the relationship.

The only way you can do this is to create a plugin or workflow (with a custom workflow activity).

The distributewf custom workflow activity that Chitra linked to does work well - although you need to be careful when cascading to cases/quotes/orders due to the out of the box behaviour restrictions that prevent you changing status under some circumstances (such as having open activities)

    Hope this helps

Thank you Sara and Mohammad for your input! However, today I am interested in cascading statuses, not relationships.
