During a payroll posting - the posting check register is out of balance. The journal entry it created is also out of balance.
Any ideas why this will occur and how can I correct it.
thanks

we are also using SP3.
Thanks
We are running GP10 version 10.00.1301. We recently installed the latest download so I assume it would be SP3.
What version are you running? We recently implemented p/r and had the same problem until we upgraded to GP10 SP3.
We have also experienced this happening in the past when we have had different payroll deductions (i.e insurance and garnishments) for employees. We have corrected it by setting deduction sequence for the deductions. I do not know why this happens and sometimes it happens for some employees but not for all. Once we identify the error (it almost always involves a garnishment (child support, etc.), we manually adjust the JE. Maybe this will at least give you a place to look.
Check the response in the technical newsgroup.
Thanks Callen,
But I do have all the posting accounts.
When I run the payroll posting register from payroll it is out of balance as well.
The JE in financials is also out of balance.
As a matter of fact the checks were created and then voided. The voided sided posted correctly but the original checks are out of balance
Lastly, my understanding was if a posting account was missing it will not let you build/calculate checks.
Any ideas as how to fix this?
Thanks
Do all line items in the journal entry have an account number?
There's probably an account missing. Check Tools >> Setup >> Posting >> Payroll Posting Accounts.
