Making Changes During Production

Posted on by 3,480

Hi:

In a Released Production Order within Manufacturing, you can click on Line...Components or Line...Routing to make changes.

You can, also, click on Line...Production Journal to make the changes there.

What is the difference between making changes in one place versus the other?

Thanks!

John

When you make changes to the components in the production order, unless you Refresh the order, the production journal will have the changes made.

    Hi John,

The components is the PLAN - this is what is expected to be consumed.

the Journal is the actual - each time you close the journal it's wiped out and refreshed.

If you consume components in production you should open your journal and post their consumption.

Depending on your flushing depends on how the components list behaves eg is a pick required or not.

    Does this help?

    Thanks

    Jarrod

    Hi Kim:

Should changes only be made in the former, rather than the latter?

And, if so, would such changes be "updated" only upon opening the Production Journal?

I thought that, if you made changes in the Production Journal directly, doing so would update the Production Order.  Should changes, instead, be made in Line>>Components?

    Line>>Components will keep your changes.

Line>>Production Journal always refreshes from components and routings on the order when it is opened.
