How do you delete a customer account?

I'm trying to delete a customer. There aren't any sales, purchasing or AR transactions associated to this account, but for some reason it is not allowing me to delete the customer. When I go into the customer maintenance screen, and click delete, a pop up comes up and says Transaction exists. Cannot delete customer.
Yes, we can make the customer "inactive", but we would like to delete it if possible.

Please help!
Thank you

When you say there are no transactions where have you checked?

Just wondering if there is something there that hasn't been posted yet? And remember, that a voided transaction counts as a transaction.

I checked in: inquiry - sales - transaction by customer. If there was a void, it should be listed here.  However, I'm now wondering if a sale order (before posting) was voided or deleted. How would I check if a sales order under this customer was voided?

Inquiry >> Sales >> Sales Order Documents and narrow the range down to the debtor in question.

YES!! Yes.. there was a void of a sales order!!!  Thank you! But...... is there a way to still delete this customer?

Let me start by saying that you'd be better to inactivate the customer.

Then let me say if you don't do that to make sure you have a good backup before proceeding.

Now change the history settings to false on the customer you want to delete and then run Paid Transaction Removal. Not having tried this I'm not certain it will work but once you've run Paid Transaction removal check if the customer has been removed.

If it hasn't switch history back on and deactivate the customer and resign yourself to it remaining on your system.
