Recurring journals

Hi,
I'm setting up a recurring journal in in Recurring General Journals with recurring method RF Reversing Fixed.
When I try to post I get an error message saying that There is nothing to post because the journal does not contain a quantity or amount?

Would like some advice on why this is happening and what I might be missing.

    Hi,

When using the Recurring General Journal with the RF (Reversing Fixed) method, it's essential to ensure that each journal line includes either a quantity or an amount. The error message you're seeing—“There is nothing to post because the journal does not contain a quantity or amount”—typically appears when these fields are left blank.

Here are a few things to check:

    • Make sure that the Amount field is filled in for each line you intend to post.

    • If you're using dimensions or allocations, verify that they are correctly set up and not causing the amount to be zero.

    • Confirm that the posting date and recurrence settings are appropriate and not excluding the entry from being posted.

    •

If everything seems correct and the issue persists, try creating a simple test journal with a single line and a small amount to verify that the posting works. This can help isolate whether the issue is with the setup or the data.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Daniele

    Hi,

Posting date in your screenshot is 31st August 2025, it should not be future date, it should be current date. You are posting in future but if you want to post in future then you need to change "My settings" and mention 31st August 2025 (only if required).

Mark the Boolean true “Does this answer your Question” if this is Helpful.

    Hello,

Your Posting Date cannot be later than the current user's Work Date.
If you want to post it, then you will need to change your Work Date to the same date or earlier date than the Posting Date.

Yi Yong is right. This is a control unique to Recurring journals and not available in General Journals. You can try changing the Work date first.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Agreed with the previous responses. Try adjusting your work date to match the posting date in the recurring journal, and it should allow you to post.

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

Please make sure there are no empty lines, and also check that you are posting in the open period.

It is because you're trying to post with a date at the end of the month. The Recurring Journal doesn't let you post in the future, unless you manipulate the Work Date.

    Update:
Dynamics 365 Business Central: “There is nothing to post because the journal does not contain a quantity or amount” when posting Recurring Journals

    Thanks.
