Hi,

I have a form in CRM which displays configuration passwords on multiple fields. I need to show all the password fields as asterisk to users. I have written a javascript which displays all those fields as asterisk onLoad but the problem is when the user saves the form asterisk is saved for all those fields. Please let me know how can i save the real value in database and display asterisk on the form.

    Hi

Use two fields (one is shown in the form and the other as hidden). Make the current one as hidden. The displayed field would still have the *, and the hidden field would save the actual value.

You can edit the displayed field, and this would update the hidden field (using JS).

You can use field level security for this. Enable field level security for the field and do not provide view rights. It will appear as ****

    Hello MdNazar,

If you are using field level security then need to check if these password fields are not being used by third party application.

Otherwise follow the advice of Gopalan.

Use Field Security (technet.microsoft.com/.../dn832104.aspx) to manage this, it is the best method and ensures you can restrict visibility of the passwords to only the users who need to see it.  Otherwise, you could create a new Form to hold the passwords and use security roles to restrict access to the form to only the Users who need to see them

The password field should not be visible to all users, even the admin so Field Security wont help here..

    Hi,

The problem with having two attributes and hiding the one containing the real password, is that the user only needs a very basic knowledge of browsers and viewing source to be able to see the password.

    Regards

    Chris
