Updating and Managing Inventory Locations in D365F&O

Is there a way to update inventory location from one value to another in a mass update?  I have 200 where I want to update the inventory location from one value to another for all 200 locations at once or in stages. Is there a way to do that in D365FO?  If so, can someone provide steps on doing it and what impact would it have if I do a mass update to change my inventory locations?
I have the same question (0)

Location names cannot normally be edited. Were you planning to use the 'rename' function?

    Good day,

A 'Mass update' of the location names is not possible.

Would it not be an option to create new locations and move the stock with a transfer journal to the new locations?

    Best regards,

That was my initial thought but wasn't sure if there was another way to handle updating my locations in D365, as I didn't want to do a rename but thought I would possibly do a mass update using DM and exporting the entity making my changes and then uploading them and didn't know if there would be any impact in doing so.

Data Management / data entities won't be able to override the restriction that location names cannot be edited.

I support the suggestion by Laurens van der Tang. The warehouse_location_id is a primary key of the Data Entity, so it won't let you directly update them via batch import.

You'll likely need to upload the new Locations first, then use a Transfer Journal to send your inventory from the old to new locations. You may also want to setup a Blocking Cause to apply to your input/output blocking values on the old locations to help prevent accidental usage of the deprecated ID's.
