Hi Community,

I am having trouble modifying the D365 BUS FULL ACCESS permission sets. I have made a copy of it, and have removed Insert, Modify and Read access from most of the Companies setup and also the Assisted Setup, but it is not reflecting. the user can still modify company name and edit the Assisted Setup pages.

Can someone please help? I want to control the environment so no one can make any changes that can impact the initial setup of Business Central.

I suspect that other permission sets also contain these permissions.
You might try the exclusion method.

For example,

Create a new permission set:

In Permission Sets, select Include D365 BUS FULL ACCESS

Then exclude the permissions in the Permission line.

agree with Yun with some additional thoughts. if user has been assigned multiple permission sets, BC will grant the sum of all permissions, meaning if you disable user access in permission set 1 and 2 but missed 3, user is still able to access. You need to disable access in all 3 permission sets, but sometimes this is challenging to be that thorough.

Exclude is a relatively new feature which allow admin to override the above scenario where permission set 3 is missed, excluding access to a table, code unit or report will effectively reduce the user permission across the board.

finally, don't forget to have user log out and back in BC to make the change taking effect and don't forget to test in a sandbox first not to disrupt user access to carry out normal business tasks

Can I mix both the D365 BUS FULL ACCESS for users with Business Essential license and D365 BASIC ACCESS for users with Team Member license including both in one permission set and exclude the main setups.

Hi, yes, it is possible, but D365 BUS FULL ACCESS already contains the permissions in D365 BASIC ACCESS, so I think it doesn't make much sense to add them.
