Fixed Asset Depreciation Proposal

Every time I try to create a Depreciation Proposal for Fixed Assets, the Transaction Type always defaults to Acquisition.

There maybe an issue with my set up but from what I can tell, all appears to be set up correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.pastedimage1678991571822v1.png

When you create FA Journal, by default always this is Acquisition, once you create a depreciation proposal, then it will be changed and created as Dep type.

    Hi,

In the fixed asset journals, the transaction type of the transaction is used as the description. This is usually Acquisition or Acquisition adjustment.

    • I start with creating an entry in the Fixed Assets Journal
    pastedimage1679060921871v1.png
    •  Then I go into the Lines and remove the line that is automatically created
    pastedimage1679060921874v2.png
    • Then I go to "Proposals" and select Depreciation Proposal and fill in the values as shown below.

I am choosing the specific Fixed Asset group as I have performed an acquisition using that group earlier.
    • Then I click OK and the proposal runs and I get the Operation completed message but nothing happens.
This is where I am stuck.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi G Long, I think you are trying to depreciate the FA which acquired on the same day.  Please try to create depreciation proposal for the FA which acquired earlier. I got the same issue earlier but resolved.

Venkat has a great point.  Change the "To" date in your proposal to the end of the month.  You won't get any depreciation if you try depreciating on the same date you acquire.
