test company not showing in drop down list

I went ahead and created a test company, ran 2 scripts, one for the tables and the other for permissions. The database shows in SQL but is not showing in the SY01500 or drop down list when I launch GP. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

No I did not receive any problems running this using utilities.  If I had to guess, I would check the installation directories and make sure you have full permissions to those.  Or check your user in GP and make sure you are a power user.  If you are using sa or DYNSA this should not be an issue.

I am having the same issue. Did you get a permissions error when you ran utilities?

I would guess this is not an issue, but I just wanted to mention the problem actually be that you have not added user access in the security.  Login to GP go to Microsoft Dynamics GP>>tools>>setup>>system and choose User Access.  Highlight your user and then click the check box next ti the company name.  you might find you receive an error which is that your user is already in your database.  Delete the user from the database not SQL security and then you should be able to add the user without error.

This also assumes you have setup your users in the database already.  Good luck!!

Go into each company in the drop down list and go to Tools>Setup Company and look for the company that has the correct database ID in the company ID field (upper right hand corner of the window).  Once you are logged into the test company you can change the company name field - this is what displays in the drop down window.  If you add <TEST> at the end of the company name you will get a warning message that you are logged into a test company.

To add to that, I have 3 of the same live company showing up in the dropdown list when launching GP. SY01500 only shows 1 instance of it with only 1 instance of the cmpanyid.

I don't have that option Mohammed. Also, it is not a sample company data(TWO). It is a test company I created and restored to.

I created the company using Dynamics GP Utilities then ran a restore of the lastest backup to the new test company.

You have to create the company using Dynamics GP Utilties.   See KB 871973.
