Hi,

I am a functional consultant and new in D365. I would like to know what is the difference between -

Management Reporter

Electronic Reporting

Power BI

Power Automate (New name of Microsoft Flow)

I have already worked in MR and designed few basic reports. Though I am interested to learn rest 3 as mentioned above.

What Electronic reporting can provide which MR cannot?

How to learn Electronic Reporting, Power BI and Power Automate?

Appreciate if anyone kindly share any good link or documentation or any detailed video link on these 3 so that I can go through, understand the detail and learn on my own. I am very much interested. Kindly assist.

    Hello Anirban Basu,

    To add to what Andre already mentioned, I often see Electronic Reporting as a kind of Swiss Army Knife because it does not only allow designing invoice documents and to comply with legal regulations but it also allows you exporting and importing data from various sources. It's a very powerful tool that you can integrate with the PowerPlatform for example to close functional gaps in D365FO that previously required system modifications.

    Hi Anirban,

    Electronic reporting is mainly about being able to report data to authorities or create documents in a certain format. This could be a payment file, but also a business document. All options for reporting in this feature is based on configuration.

    Power BI is a reporting tool where you can create nice looking reports in tabular format or graphs. It is not limited to financial data, like Management Reporter. It is also not limited to Dynamics 365 data. You can combine more data sources to get better insights

    With Power Automate, you can automate business processes. You can e.g. retrieve a document from an incoming mail, get it analyzed and have a new PO created in Finance and Operations. There are over 300 connectors available to interact with data or automate processes.
