Unable to setup BC sandbox & VS Code

Hi,

I am following below link to setup my BC sandbox, I am able to sign-up BC and install VS Code & AL Extension.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-get-started.

I am getting errors when I run my AL project.

A package with publisher 'Microsoft', name 'Base Application', and a version compatible with '16.0.0.0' could not be found in the package cache folder 'c:\Users\danyal.butt\Documents\AL\ALProject1\./.alpackages'

&

The target Page "Customer List" for the extension object is not found.

I would be really grateful if someone can help me.

Thanks,

Danyal

You have created an extension for BC 16, but your Sandbox is in other version (15, 14, ...). You have to use a sandbox that meets app version (or app version that meets sandbox version).

I am using the links to get VS Code, AL Extension & Sandbox which MS provided in the documentation

    docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-get-started

Now how do I match the versions.

Are you developing on Docker Sandbox image or on SaaS Sandbox? The error you get say that there isn't symbols for 16.0.0.0, the app has dependencies for this version but the sandbox you are using does not have this version, this is the problem.

In Saas, you have the latest version (now is 16.1), but in docker you have to download latest version. In Docker:

New-NavContainer -containerName -imageName mcr.microsoft.com/businesscentral/sandbox:16- -accept_eula -doNotExportObjectsToText -auth NavUserPassword -accept_outdated -updateHosts -alwaysPull

Important parameter is -alwaysPull to update version 16 with last aviable image.

    I am using SaaS Sandbox.

    Adding more,

    After using AL GO command(Step # 5),

I chose 5.0 Business Central 2020 release wave 1 and then Microsoft Cloud Sandbox. After Signing up(Step # 6), VS Code is stuck at sending request to api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/.../packages and then gives time out error. I have tried 'disableHttpRequestTimeout' to 'true' but still no luck.

It seems that there is some problem with SaaS Sandbox... sadly, this occurs sometimes and you have to wait until it works again (or open ticket to MS). Because that we prefer to develop on Docker Sandbox, but you need a developer license in this case (the license included in Docker Sandbox only allows working with id range 50100..50149).

    Hello,

If this is SaaS release, feel free to raise this as an issue to Microsoft Support.

    Thanks.

Thank you Marco & Ponc. I will open a ticket and will share the resolution by MS here as well.

    Hello.
Although this post is quite old, I think it does not give a solution to solve the problem. I explain how I solved it. This is the error I get when compiling my extension:

Remove from folder .alpackages the Microsoft Application app:

And I put the Microsoft .app from the previous version:

Restart the window in VSCode and it appears already compiled. I will not be able to download symbols until my sandbox is updated to version 25.4
