Display All Open Opportunities under Account A and all related Opportunities under Contact C

Hey,

I have read about this and it seems to be an issue even in older versions. But I need a solution for this and I'm scared, that Dynamics handles like this:

I have Account A and I created some Opportunities from the Sub-Grid:

Opp-on-Account.PNG

They are all associated with Contact C, but there they do not appear. I tried to create Opportunities from C on, but than they only appear under C and not under the Account (which is related):

Opp-on-Contact.PNG

I'm not asking, what the idea behind this 'feature' is (What the hell is this?), I need a solution to display:

- All open Opportunities under Account A, related to Contacts (C and others)

- All open Opportunities under the specific Contact

Is there any way to solve this, preferred with customizing/workflow or similiar?

This would be REALLY helpful!

Thanks a lot!

In the customization you can create new opportunity views and set the filter conditions that way so you get your desired result. Then in the form editor of the account and contact entity you could configure these subgrids to use your new views or create a new subgrid using your new view.

    Hey Andreas,

I had the same idea. But: I have to set a filter that says: 'Show all Open Opportunities related to this specific Account' on a Sub-Grif that is included on the Contact. So the Account is a variable. But I see no option to specify a filter with such a flexible condition. I thought it should be something like 'Where Account = parrentaccountid', but this does not work.

Did you use this? How did you handle this exactly?

    Best Regards,

    Hannes

    Hi Hannes_83,

I always create all of my opportunities related the the Account vs. the Contact.  I then set the primary contact on the Opportunity (shows as a quick view on the Opportuntity form as well) as the Contact.

I then change the view on the Recent Opportunities on the Contact to show:

    Records:  Only Related Records

    Entity:  Opportunity (Contact)

    Default View:  Open Opportunities

This will then show all the contact's opportunities in that view and when you look at the Account you will see all opportunties related to the Account itself.

Contacts can exist without a relationship to an Account and the Contact can still have an Opportunity related so this is why I think there are two different methods here.  Normally I never have this exist, I always have my contacts related to an Account.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Hi Hannes,

You can follow these steps to overcome this situation :

    1.    Edit Account and Contact Form by clicking Form editor button.

    2.    Click on entity and select Forms.

    3.    Open the main form.

    lead form editor.jpg

    4.    Click on grid, which you want to customize.

    5.    Click Properties from the toolbox on the same window.

    set properties.jpg

    6.    Change the view from Opportunities(Potential Customer) to Opportunities(Account) - for Account View and Opportunities(Contact) for Contact View.

    7.    Save and Publish.

Please mark my answer as verified, if it solved your query.

Recent opportunities are based on potential customer . In your scenario, even though opportunities created under Account A are associated with contact C, their potential  customer field is set as Account A. hence they cannot be displayed in contact c Recent opportunities sub grid. This is by design . Hope you have understood what i meant to convey.

To change this, we need to change the view mapping as mentioned above
