Production order remaining quantity not considered during MPS/MRP

Hi All,

My customer is posting production order output partially. Between partial outputs they calculate new plan, but the problem is that the remaining quantity on released production order is not considered during the calculation. Is that the standard behavior in Business central? Can this be changed?

Sample:

sales order fo item A = 50 pcs
inventory for item A = 10 pcs
production order XYZ initial qty = 50 pcs, output = 10 pcs (the one in the inventory now), remaining qty = 40 pcs (status still released and due date still in the future).
In this situation calculating the MPS for item A gives suggestion to create new Production order for 40 pcs and customer ends up with excessive 40 pcs in the inventory because the initial order will be completed as well.

Any suggestions on what setup to look for?Hi All,

You mention the Due Date on the Production Order is in the future.  When is the calculated Finish Date of the Production Order Line?  Also what is the Planned Shipment Date of the Sales Line?  If the Finish Date is AFTER the Sales Line date, the system is going to suggest you make a new Production Order in time to finish before the Sales Line needs shipped.  You should have also received a suggestion to Change Qty. on the existing Production Order since the new suggestion takes its place.  If you aren't getting the Change Qty. suggestion, check the "Planning Flexibility" setting on the Production Order Line.  If set to "None", the system won't recommend any changes to it, which can lead to over-production.
