Creating a new role.

Hi experts,

  • I created a new role that had access to certain menus in the Production Information management, Inventory management, Master Planning.
  • I didn't use the Security development tool, but I did it manually (Drag & drop the Menu Items)
  • It came out perfect, but it open-up some additional menu's such as Procurement & sourcing, Production control, Warehouse management, Sales & marketing, Organization admin.

Q1 - What is the reason for this behavior?

Technically if these Entry Points are specific particular Element, this should not happen. Right?

  • Once I finish everything I did small deep-down analysis & found the Security Development tool not showing the correct data.
  • For ex, I was looking at 3 EntryPoints,
    1. SalesATP
    2. SalesLineOpenOrder
    3. SuppItemTable_PurchAction

Sales ATP                                               Under Properties Access Level = NoAccess

Under SDT Access Level           = Full control

SalesLineOpenOrder                             Under Properties Access Level = NoAccess

Under SDT Access Level           = No Access

SuppItemTable_PurchAction                 Under Properties Access Level = Delete

Under SDT Access Level           = Full control

SDT = Security Development Tool

Q2 - Am I doing something wrong or why it's behaving like that?

- SuppItemTable_PurchAction is showing correct data in the SDT, but not the other two objects.

- Now my concerns are SuppItemTable_PurchAction is in the sys Layer, but all the other objects are in the syp layer. Is this anything to do with this issues? (I have done all the customization within cus layer though)

Thanks for your valuable time.

if this menus shared in more than module , you can access this modules and so on

so you can not restrict module but you restrict menu item

    Hi TinTin,

The first question was answered by Mahmoud. The same menu item can be used on several menus. In that case the user will see multiple menus

For your second question, can you verify if the same menu item is part of another privilege/duty which is actually providing access? The highest security access has priority.

    Hi Andre,

In the current situation I created 3 privileges. Let’s name it as Role A, Role B and Role C.

                                   Product Maintain Role A

                                   Inventory Maintain Role B

                                   Master Planning Role C

           SalesATP is part of a Role A & B (NoAccess / Full)

SalesLineOpenOrder is a part of a Role A (NoAccess)

           SuppItemTable_PurchAction is a part of Role A

Considering the fact you mentioned above, I realized why SalesATP Access level equal to Full control.

Thanks a lot Andre, your enormous help always encourage us to deep down in the AX ocean.
