CURRENT STATUS AND RESOLUTION
Operations is aware of the problem and current estimation is to provide a solution by Friday 7th January 2022 during EMEA non working hours.
UPDATE 8 January 12 AM CET.
The hotfix has been deployed to the affected group of tenants, but there has been a further issue.
As a result, emailing via "SMTP Mail Setup" is now unblocked, but unfortunately using the SMTP connector will still not work for the affected tenants.
Operations is working on a solution to have this addressed in a timely manner.
UPDATE 10 January 10 AM CET
Considering the affected tenants, for version 19.1 both SMTP Mail Setup and SMTP connector now are back to normal work.
Considering the affected tenant, for versions 19.0 and 19.2, only SMTP connector will currently work while for versions 18.5 and earlier SMTP Mail Setup wouldn't still work.
Operation is aware of this behavior and working on resolving these last few issue in a timely manner.
UPDATE 10 January 1 PM CET
Few tenants still remains to be patched. This will happen today during EMEA non working hours.
UPDATE 11 January 5 PM CET
Very few tenants still remains to be patched. These will be patched soon. If you have a tenant with this error still, feel free to be in touch with your partner / reseller and have them open a support request to Microsoft.
