Item with Lot Tracking posted with no Lot No.

Hi

A receipt was posted for an Item with Lot Tracking, but no Lot number exists in Item Ledger Entries. We are now unable to sell the item or even do a negative adjustment because it insists on a lot number and there isn't one.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
I have the same question (0)

Since the item was posted without a Lot No., you can't sell or adjust it. Fix this by using an Item Reclassification Journal to assign a Lot No., or post a Negative Item Journal to remove stock, then re-enter it correctly with a Positive Item Journal.

    Hello,

    Yes, Khushbu Rajvi is correct.

You can resolve the same by following 2 ways :

    1. Make Negative Adjt. without Lot Number with Apply Entry and then Make a Positive Adjustment of Item with Correct Lot Number.
    OR
    2. Add New Lot No. In Item Tracking Lines of Item Reclass Journal.

Otherwise you want to Sale the Item which has No Lot no. that cannot be possible.

Hi Khushbu Rajvi & Jainam M. Kothari

No matter what entry I try to correct or remove it I always get the error message below.

    Error message:
You must assign a lot number for item 05014727001. Line No. = '10000'.

    Hello,

Even you Applied the Adjt. Entry with Posted Entry with the use of "Applies-to-Entry"?

Then you will debug the issue with technical person and they can help to resolve the error.

    Hi, good day
I hope this can help you, and give you some hints.

Assign a lot number to a part already in stock

    Best Regards
    Gerardo

There was no transaction whatsoever that would post, including item journals, reclassification journals or anything else.

To address the scenario above the only way around it was to do a small development to add the Lot No to the Item Ledger Entry and also to the Warehouse House Entry.

Once you have ledgers, you normally cannot change between lot and no lot, so my assumption is that someone changed the Item Tracking Code without validation on the Item Card. (possibly using Configuration Package)

What you would need to do is use Configuration Package without validation, to remove the Item Tracking Code in the Item card.
Once the Item Tracking Code is removed, do negative adjustment for the entries without Lot.

Put back the Item Tracking Code using configuration package.
Do positive adjustment to add back the entries with Lot.

    Hi,

For lot and serialized items posted incorrectly, I use this tool: https://dmsiworks.com/apps/import-export-powertool.

It's a great tool for editing fields and updating the lot number in the relevant table

    Thanks, Ramesh

This is strange. Generally, if the Lot No. is not set, it cannot be posted.

Is it because your item doesn't have the following options set?

If so, it is recommended to recreate a new item and use Item Journal to make negative adjustments and positive adjustments.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

It is impossible to post an item without a lot number if the item tracking code is set up to use Lot. However, to fix the current issue, you may need to update the entry using a processing report to change the Lot Number on the ledger entry.
