Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

GP2010, BP5 and Business Portal 5.1 co-exist

Posted on by 20

I have GP 2010.  I have SharePoint BP 5.0.3118.0 on a Windows 2003 server using SharePoint Service 3.0.

We chose not to install BP 64-bit on a new server when we upgraded from GP v9 to GP2010 because there were warnings about BP 5.1 not being stable.

I want to install BP 5.1 (64-bit) on a W2008 R2 (64-bit) server with SharePoint 2010 Standard.  I want to leave the old BP5 running on the other server so I can migrate the interface tweaks to the new installation.

Can this be done?

    Hello,

What sort of interface tweaks are you looking to migrate?  This scenario is one that is not supported (running both BP 5.0 and 5.1 at the same time).  It could possibly work, but it's not something that's been verified.

The suggested upgrade route would be to take your SharePoint content db, restore on the new web server, have SharePoint 2010 upgrade it, and then install BP.  You could also start fresh with a new web site and site collection and install BP with the plans to modify later.

    Thanks

    Rob
