So that they can perform a 'Merge' on two records to remove duplicates. I'm not sure which circle to use in the Security Role screen!

I am having this issue with cases. What ended up being the work around?
I have the same issue but with the Case entity. I have set Merge as a security role and the Case entity has all security roles bar 'Delete' and there are no locked down fields on the Case entity except for the 'ID' field, but yet i still can not Merge two cases, any ideas?
Awesome! Thanks guys.
Chon,
You might refer this link
msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334602.aspx
Entity | Privileges |
---|---|
account |
prvAppendAccount prvAppendActivity prvAppendToAccount prvMerge prvReadAccount prvShareAccount prvWriteAccount prvWriteActivity |
contact |
prvAppendActivity prvAppendContact prvAppendToContact prvMerge prvReadContact prvShareContact prvWriteActivity prvWriteContact |
lead |
prvAppendActivity prvAppendLead prvAppendToLead prvMerge prvReadLead prvShareLead prvWriteActivity prvWriteLead |
incident |
prvAppendActivity prvAppendIncident prvAppendToIncident prvMerge prvReadIncident prvShareIncident prvWriteActivity prvWriteIncident |
Those are the privileges you would require to set in the Security Role.
Hope this helps!
Thanks.
Chon,
The merge circle is not enough if in the specific entity privilege your users dont have some specific access for that particular entity, such as Read, Edit, Append, Append To, and Share
This link might help you.
www.reconnected.be/.../merge-entity-security-in-crm-2011
Read of course you need, Edit of course you also need because you want to merge and it does mean update and complete each other and deactivate the rest info, Append and Append To because you want to get info from another entity record so that to get right you need Append and its pair, Append To.
Share might be needed because:
Seems that a share is created with the original owner when the records are merged, though it appears it might be possible to change this setting.
Check this as well:
social.microsoft.com/.../crm-2011-merge-account-creates-share
And it didnt mention about Assign, but logically, if you want to merge record owned by two users (not only you) then you want to merge and choose the owner, need to give assignment to yourself (Assign to Me) or any other user you grant as new owner.
Thank you.
Thanks Sameera
Ojn the Security role page go to Business Management Tab, under Miscellaneous privileges you would find Merge
Also Append,Append To, Share and Assign privilege on the Account/contact record. Let me know if it works..
For merging you do need 'merge' permissions, you can add it from Business Management Tab on security role.
But there might be probable reasons you are not able to do it:
Check if there are any Secured fields on the form, if yes provide permissions to user on that
Check all lookup fields and see if the user has got rights to corresponding entities
Check all child/sub entities on the form and provide permissions to user
