Dynamically switch sales journals/orders to warehouse with product in stock for all items on SO

Hello all,

I am looking for a way to setup AX 2012 R3 CU13 to automatically route a sales orders to whichever warehouse (we have 2 setup) can allocate 100% of them line items. Right now I am running a query to find them then going to the sales orders and doing it manually. Is this something that is currently out of the box AX or will this need to be a customization? If it does need to be customized, has anyone does something similar to this that could point me in the right direction?

    Hi Jeff,

    I don't think you can get AX to do this as standard; you have a default Warehouse from the Customer or the Item, but nothing that will automatically optimise which warehouse to use based on available on-hand.

    Hi Jeff Hickey,

    This is not possible out of the box for sure,

    However I remember being asked for the same requirement before and we proposed a custom solution to achieve the same.

    Based on the region the warehouses were grouped together using warehouse pool master which was a customization. Then as sales order were created in AX a custom logic was added to check the warehouses which fall in the pool for the customer delivery address country and the warehouse with highest on hand was selected on the sales line.

    e.g. Warehouses Gothenburg  and Oslo fall in the Nordic region

    Warehouse pool master (Customization) > Nordic Region

    Warehouse Master (Customization to group warehouses in a pool as they had only one site) Now Oslo and Gothenburg fall in same warehouse pool

    > Gothenburg > Nordic Region

    > Oslo > Nordic Region

    Country master was updated with Supplying regions (Customization to be able to select warehouse pool master in country master)

    Norway > Nordic Region

    Sweden > Nordic Region

    Now sales order came for a customer in Sweden for item D

    Logic will be executed like this

    1 - Code will identify the delivery address country in the sales order address >> Sweden

    2 - Code will then find the supplying region for the delivery address country >> Nordic region

    3 - Code will find warehouses in the Nordic region >> Gothenburg and Oslo

    4- Code will find the warehouse with higher total available on hand for the item D

    5- Code will updated the warehouse on the line automatically

    This worked for them perfectly. We had to make pool as a master as they had some financial reasons to use 1 site for complete business else you can play around with site instead of pool master.

    Check if this can help you and think through this and see what suits you best. This is best I can recall now.
