Posted Project Transactions : Need to get cost currency

(0) ShareShare

Hello Everybody

This time I have no issue :-) but only a question (AX 2012 R3 CU8)

I am looking forward to show the cost currency in the function Posted Project Transactions.

For expenses, it is quite easy, because I can get the information in the ProjCostTransView View.

But for Item or hours, I can't find the way to make the link between some table to get the cost currency ? Any idea? Any standard method to use ?

Thank's in advance for your help.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Christophe,

The item costs and hour costs should always be posted in the accounting currency of the company where the project resides.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

I am quite of with you for the hour costs.

But in our case, we have some project where the item are not posted in the accounting currency.

If our case, in the posted project transactions, we can see Total Cost amount column with different values of Total Cost amount in company currency

    Hello Christophe,

Let's say that your accounting currency is the USD and that you purchase items for a project in CNY.

What AX is supposed doing is to convert the CNY purchase amount into USD and consume the item based on the USD value.

You should never see the CNY value at the project level in my opinion.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

I am working with Christophe and, to make things clearer, I have built an example:

    pastedimage1631091029059v1.png

First line : supplier invoice in USD. The voucher is in USD, but cost currency is showing as project's sales currency. => is there a way to pick up the USD currency somehow to show it in the posted transactions?

Second line : PO reception. In the PO header, currency is USD. The voucher is in EUR for cost account and in USD for AP account. => same as above, is there a way to pick up the USD currency code ?

Last line : expense posted in USD. Currency code is OK.

All lines between were posted in EUR.

If you have any tips for us, we'd be very grateful :)

    Thanks!

    Nelly

    Hi Nelly,

Can you add the category type to the screenshot above (fee, item, etc.)

Also, can you specify what your accounting is?

Is the project invoiced in the accounting currency or a different currency?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks for your reply Ludwig.

Here is the screenshot of the project transactions, including the transaction type:

    pastedimage1631111168700v1.png

In this example, the project is invoiced in EUR, which is the accounting currency.

And here are the vouchers for the 3 lines that should be showing a cost currency = USD (only the expense line is correct, the other lines show cost currency = EUR) :pastedimage1631111694022v2.png

Don't hesitate if you have other questions. And thanks again for your time!

    Best regards,

    Nelly

    Hi Nelly,

I double checked things in my demo machine but got a different result.

I see the (converted) accounting currency amounts only.

Tested this in a 10.0.18 machine.

Are you on an older or newer version?

Would recommend having a look at LCS because there are a number of hotfixes listed related to currency issues for projects.

If you cannot find something there, open a support ticket with MS.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
