We are installing a second lane. the old one is XP the new is Windows 7 Pro. we can connect the 7 to the XP but not the other way. I think we need to u[date the SQL extpress on the XP box. Can you direct me to the correct process?

If you are trying to connect the two register, one register have XP and other have Windows 7, Then Follow the following Steps,
1. First Disable the Windows Firewall on both computer.
2. Assign the Ip Address to both the computer, like 192.168.0.1 for computer 1 and 192.168.0.2 for PC 2.
3. Install the SQL on both the PC's
4. Install RMS on both PC's.
5. Make a Data source on the client computer (not having Database).
6. On client Register Set it as Register 2 in the Store Operation Administrator.
7. Set register 2 in the Database.
