Heya,

I have a Scenario when tracking tokens sometimes repeating themselves.

for example:

the token CRM:0363815 was generated firstly at 14/4/2017 and then again few days ago

and both emails were being sent with no correlation to each other.

I'd like to know how the system is generate the tokens?

is that a possible situation or a bug?

Thanks!

I think this can help you understand how they are being created and so forth

Is there any chance that one of the emails was generated in a Sandbox instance?

Are they both outgoing emails? Wondering if you ran into a client who is using CRM as well, and, so, that second email got a tracking token not from your CRM, but from theirs..

Thank you guys. I have found the cause for that.

as mentioned at the link provided by Samarando:

"ID (pre suffix digits) - Configurable. Default range is 3 digits. This is a numeric identifier for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user who generated the e-mail activity.

Number (suffix digits) - Configurable. Default range is 4 digits. This is a numeric identifier for the e-mail activity (not the individual messages that the activity contains.) If you configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM to generate a token with a four-digit number, it will increment the number through 9999, and then restart the number at 0000. You can use a larger order of digits to reduce the possibility of assigning duplicate tokens to active e-mail threads."

we had the same user sending every email while our tracking token number was set to 3 digits.

therefore every 1000 emails his tracking token was keeping repeat themselves.
