What data do you want to get to XML?

Isn't DIXF a better choice for exporting data to XML?

Could you elaborate what you mean by "inbound, outbound"? If you use a report, it's just one-directional thing. If you want to be able to import XML files, using a report is a design that can't achieve your goal. You would need either DIXF or AIF instead.

DIXF stands for Data Import Export Framework. It can export date to from AX to various destinations (including XML files, which you're interested in) and import data to AX.

You can find more information in documentation.
