I cannot install CRM 2011 client because of windows identity foundation

Hallo, I have trouble with Windows Identity Foundation - I need it for a CRM 2011 client but it crashes during intallation because of this WIF. If i try to install it directly, it says that this update is not fot my system applicable. I have W7 professional in a SBS 2008 server network...

    Windows 7 is fully supported for Windows Identity Framework. Maybe you downloaded the wrong version or maybe you downloaded 64bit on an 32 bit computer or something to that effect.

    Jup, Jamie is right

    If you have Windows 7 32bit, download "Windows6.1-KB974405-x86.msu"

    If you have Windows 7 64bit, download "Windows6.1-KB974405-x64.msu"

    Unfortunatelly, thats not the cause - I tried the correct version but still no effect... :(

    And - more importatnt - it does all others W7 computers (32bit) in our network... just one 64bit PC does not...

    So did WIF successfully install in the first place?  If so, I would try to uninstall and re-install it.

    Also, make sure you are installing the correct version of the outlook client.

    WIF did not install succesfully as far as I know... at least I do not see it in the installed programs or updates... and I have never installed it previously. Otlook client - I am downloading it directly from our CRM 2011... I tried also direct download from Microsoft - no matter :(.

    The trouble is in that WIF because installation of outlook client fails with unknown error and in the log is written that installer couldnt install WIF so the whole intall fails...

    I am a little bit suspicious about our SBS 2008 network  - cannot this makes this strange behavior? I am thinking about trying to upgrade to SBS 2011... but I am a little bit afraid about it :)

    So you are also absolutely sure that you downloaded the proper version of the outlook client?

    I downloaded it direcrtly from our CRM server... than also the latest version from microsoft - it was the same version with the same behavior... so I think that yes, it has been the correct version...

    Here is where I would make sure you got it from.  Do you have a 64 or 32 bit system?  Which outlook client file did you download?

    I am trying this file "CRM2011-Client-CSY-i386.exe" (czech language version because it is the same language as the server is). In have 32 bit system.

    Did you get your issues resolved? Please share how. We ran into the same issue on 2 of our windows 7 workstations. One was brand new out of the box. The windows indentity foundation install fails when run individually (correct download) and as part of the install. We have tried everything under the earth and nothing seems to fix it. I am lost. please help.
