How to add multiple projects to a Project Employee in PA

Posted on by 165

Hi,

Is there a way to assign an employee to multiple projects other than going into each project in PA and adding the employee to Access List? We have 650+ projects and are looking for a quicker and easier way to accomplish this.

I created an entry in the MS Connect database to ask for this feature in an upcoming next version of GP... please go and vote for it : connect.microsoft.com/.../mass-add-for-project-accounting-to-employee

    Thanks !

    Hi Dave,

This is an old thread, but to add up to the other suggestions here, since we came accross the same issue recently, having to add 100+ projects to new users, we're using macros (if someone is not confortable to use SQL scripts).

The way to do it is well described in the following blog post from David Musgrave : blogs.msdn.com/.../how-to-use-word-mail-merge-and-macros-to-import-data.aspx

All you have to do is extract the list of all your projects thru a smartlist into Excel and use this as a data source for the mail-merge function.

If at the last option you have the SQL just so you know the associated table is PA01408 Project Access List Master, and you get the project list from PA01201.

Just so you know about your last option :-)

    Thanks Beat.

I tried going thru both the Cards>Project>project Access List and thru the employee>project>access list. Works fine if it is just a few projects. In our case , we have to open up appx 600 projects everytime a new employee joins. And , believe me, that is a pain.

I would keep SQL as the last option.

    Any other sugegstions? Anyone?

    Hi Dave,

Which path are you using for doing this ? Have you tried Cards > Project > Project Access List

There you can select a user and assign one project at a time, but I think it's quicker than going thru the project card.

An alternative solution would be to tap into the tables directly with some SQL scripts, but if you don't know where to look for, don't even think about it.
