Bulk Order Uploads Deleting Prices in Dynamics 365 Need a way?

Hi Dynamics Community!

I’m Mark Pousee, and I’ve run into a bit of a head-scratcher while managing bulk order uploads in Dynamics 365 Sales. Whenever I import large CSV files with both product quantities and custom pricing, the upload process completes but somehow the price fields get wiped out on the newly created orders. The quantities and product codes are all intact, but the prices vanish as if they’re being reset.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
  • Double-checked the CSV formatting to ensure the price column matches the Dynamics import template.
  • Ensured the Import Map for that field is enabled and correctly mapped.
  • Tried both manual import through the UI and automated uploads via Power Automate same issue every time.
  • Tested importing smaller batches (5–10 orders), and the prices still disappear on those too.
Has anyone ever run into this? Is it a known bug, or maybe some mapping rule or plugin that strips out prices on bulk imports? If you've found a workaround—maybe using Excel add-in or a different field configuration I'd love to hear it!

Thanks so much in advance for any insights or help. 📦

Dynamics 365 Sales has built-in pricing logic that can override manually entered or imported prices based on price lists and product catalog rules.
    Specifically:
When you import Order Products (Order Line Items), D365 automatically recalculates prices based on:

    • The product
    • The quantity

The associated price list on the Order
If your CSV includes custom prices (e.g., a discounted unit price), they can be ignored or reset by this logic unless specific fields are configured to tell D365 to stop overriding them.

    • Make Sure Price Overridden Field Is Set to True
    • In the Order Product entity, there’s a Boolean field called:
    • IsPriceOverridden or Price Overridden
    • If this is not set to true, D365 will recalculate and overwrite your PricePerUnit.
    • Set this to true (or 1) in your import file for each order line item where you're providing a custom price.

What you’re seeing isn’t a bug—it’s standard Dynamics 365 Sales pricing behavior. By default, when you bulk import Order Products (line items), the system automatically recalculates the price based on the product, quantity, and the price list tied to the order. That’s why your custom prices keep getting wiped.

    Workaround:
In your import file, make sure to set the Price Overridden (IsPriceOverridden) field to True (or 1). This tells Dynamics not to recalc the price list value and to keep your imported PricePerUnit instead.
You can add this column to your CSV and update your import map. Once set, the system will respect your custom prices and stop overwriting them.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing the details—this is a frustrating issue, and you're not alone in encountering it.

Here are a few things to check and try:

    1. Price Override Settings

      • In Dynamics 365 Sales, the system may automatically apply price lists unless the price override is explicitly enabled.
      • Make sure the Override Price field is set to true during import, or that your import process includes a flag to bypass price list enforcement.
    2. Field Mapping and Data Types

      • Confirm that the price field in your CSV is mapped to the correct field (ManualDiscountAmount, PricePerUnit, or similar).
      • Ensure the data type matches what Dynamics expects—e.g., decimal format with no currency symbols.
    3. Import Behavior

      • If you're using Power Automate, check whether the flow includes logic that resets or recalculates pricing.
      • Try using the Excel add-in or Data Import Wizard with a simplified template to isolate the issue.
    4. Plugins or Workflows

      • Review any custom plugins or workflows that might be triggered on order creation and could be clearing or recalculating prices.
    5. Known Issues

      • There have been reports of price fields being reset during bulk imports due to system logic tied to price lists. Check with Microsoft support or release notes to see if this is a known bug in your version.

Let me know if this helps, and please mark the response as helpful if it answered your question 😊

    Best regards!
