Master planning generates multiple planned purchase orders without grouping

Hello everyone,

Master planning is creating 2 planned purchase orders (PPO) for the item without consolidating the total quantity.

First Planned Purchase order (PPO) is for safety stock: refer Image 1

Second Planned Purchase order (PPO) is against a sale order demand: refer Image 2

I noticed that the 1st PPO pegged to safety stock and has the warehouse mentioned as "MK MAIN".

But the 2nd PPO is pegged for Sale order demand and the warehouse is blank and has only site. Any particular reason for this?

On my sale order line for this item, the storage dimensions is updated with Site & Warehouse. So I am assuming the 2nd PPO pegged against sale order should contain warehouse, or is this based on some parameter which I am missing?

Note: The Item and warehouse are AWMS enabled.

I need your help to understand the above behavior of master planning.

Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Karthik,

Thanks. Is it correct that the requirement date is different per planned order?

    Regards,

    Laurens

    Hi Laurens,

Yes, the requirement date is different per planned order but with an interval of 10 days. But as per the coverage period set as 30 days in the coverage group, should the master planning combine all the demand for a period of 30 days and create a single planned purchase order?

For 1st PPO pegged against safety stock the requirement date is 3/20/2023.

For 2nd PPO pegged against sale order demand the requirement date is 3/29/2023.

    Thanks,

    Karthik.

    Hi Karthik,

I think in case of different requirement days, it means also different delivery dates, what probably means different purchase orders or purchase order lines.

    Laurens

    Hi Laurens,

Yes, I need both lines in Purchase order to be with same delivery dates.

But, however master planning has created 2 PPOs with different delivery dates even though coverage period set is 30 days.

The warehouse field is the difference between 2 PPOs which I suspect as reason, but I am not sure.

    Thanks,

    Karthik.
