Hi

I am trying to learn Dynamics AX . The training is very expensive .  There so many modules in AX .

Where shall i get started . I have a technical back ground . But I want to focus both on functional and technical side.

I could not find something solid on the web to get used to everything in Dynamics .

Thanks.

If you have access to Dynamics Learning Portal, you can watch courses there. If you don't have access, getting it may be the best next step.

Also, you'll have to decide what you want to study.

There are excellent books available for purchase on Dynamics AX to give you a good understanding of various modules and some solid cover for the basic development frameworks and features. Many of them could be purchased from the publishers or on Amazon, some of them are also available with a Safari books online subscription.

A free alternative would be to read through the MSDN documentation, which is also very detailed.

However, having an experienced trainer/mentor at a partner or customer and working on an actual implementation is irreplacable, without that you will not get the big picture.

Got it .i guess i have to be a partner or use a partners  a/c. My main concern is self learning but it s kind of too winding .

    Hi usher227,

The Dynamics learning Portal can be accessed through the following link mbspartner.microsoft.com/Landing

However, as you mentioned below, you need to be associated with a MS partner to access it.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Self-learning an ERP system of this scale will leave huge gaps in your knowledge, since best practices and proper way of doing things can only be accustomed to your everyday routine if someone tells you what are you doing incorrectly, and fills in the gaps. So without working for a customer or partner and getting the proper training and context you are pushing out your learning curve from the average of 3 years to get an acceptable knowledge to much more.

Get affiliated with a partner or customer with a good implementation team, and learn from them.
