Outsource PO's suggested quantities

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am setting up manufacturing for a new company.  I want to use Machine Variable Overhead as my Outsource Cost Bucket.  When I choose Mach Var OH as my cost bucket in Setup/MFG/WIP, the generated PO's in the MO have 0(zero) for suggested quantity to order.  If I choose Machine as my bucket, the generated PO's in the MO have quantities equal to the Start Quantity of the MO.  I do not wish to use Machine as my bucket because I am capturing Machine Costs.  Is there an additional step I am missing to correctly use Mach Var OH as my cost bucket?

On the Machine card for the outsourced sequence set Variable Overhead to Piece or Hour and I got my correct suggested quantities.  Add an amount in the adjacent field and I got Prod Costs on the manufacturing order variance window.

    Babu:

Thank you for your reply.  The suggested Qty is neither the start or end qty.  It is zero(0) when I use the Mach Var OH bucket.  It works correctly when I use the Machine bucket.

    Thanks

Hi the quantity of outsourced PO will come from MO ending qty.  Please note that the qty suggested is a non inventory item and you can change the qty before you press Create PO button.
