HQ Corrupting Journals after Recovering a Store from a Backup

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I recently had a store crash and my bare metal recovery failed.  In an effort to get the store back up quickly I decided to restore an old backup from a year ago and then update the inventory from HQ.  Now I have a major problem.  Every time the store uploads it's journals to HQ, HQ combines it with the previous years journal.

To be clear.

1.Before the store crashed it was on Journal Batch # 2295

2. After restoring from backup it started over using batch #2008.

3. The journals at the store level look fine.  For instance batch 2009 Is for Sept. 14 and it contains the transactions for that day

4.  In HQ it is creating a Journal batch for 2009 containing both the sales data for batch 2009 on 09-14-12 and it contains the batch info from a date in October 2011 that used the same batch number.

I think I need to change the bach number at the store, but see no way to do it.  Can anyone help?

Thanks

Bill

    Bill,

I think you are SOL on this one.  Is this what your reseller suggested that you do? If so, thime to find a new one!

thanks Jeff,  I didn't realize that using a backup was the wrong way to go.  But now if I create a database from HQ, won't the data be wrong because of the fact that the good data has been overwrote with the bad data.  As in the last batch number used today is one from a year ago.

    Thanks

    Bill,

Not sure there is too much you can do about it now other than to delete the store and create a Store's database from HQ as decribed in the KB below.

How to export a current Store Operations database from a Headquarters database when the Store Operations database is damaged and you do not have a recent backup copy of the database
