I'm looking at the different AX 2012 integration options and I'm trying to figure out what the best/safest way to expose data from AX outside of our network to one specific 3rd party for integration. Think a trusted e-Commerce store that wants to pull our items and orders on-demand.
I was thinking AIF, but it's depreciated in D365 and we want to be forward thinking. I was looking at DIXF, but it seems like I can only choose AX, File, or ODBC connections? Or do I not understand how DIXF can be used?
Is there a recommended approach?
Hi Wmyk,
Custom services are services that you create to expose X++ logic through a service interface.
Please read this Doc: docs.microsoft.com/.../integration-with-microsoft-dynamics-ax
Besides, you can search some cases. sumitsaxfactor.wordpress.com/.../
How do you expose it externally though? When you say custom services, is that where I install the IIS component or is that AIF?
Custom services (that you host in AX) work the same way in AX2012 and D365FO so that would be a potential option.
If you move large data volumes, DIXF is better and should be semi easy to reimplement in D365FO.
