BANK RECONCILIATIONS

I'm trying to import bank statements into Business Central, as I do not have bank feeds yet. How do I import a csv file containing the bank statement into Business Central, as when I try to import the file I get the following error message "A call to System.Xml.XmlDocument.Load failed with this message: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

Is there a data load format template available so I know how to prepare the bank statement data so it is acceptable with Business Central Import Rules.

Is there any youtube learning videos I can watch that shows me how to successfully import manual bank statements into Business Central.

Regards

Fred Walker

    Hi Fred

It's data exchange definition that you need to look at here. docs.microsoft.com/.../across-how-to-set-up-data-exchange-definitions.

Once you have a data exchange definition you will need to go to the bank account and ensure the statement import field is using an import profile that uses the data exchange you have setup. The data exchange definition can have a number of settings adjusted to handle the csv file format.

Alternatively you could use this service: docs.microsoft.com/.../bank-how-setup-bank-data-conversion-service

we came across this issue today. For us the problem was that we had setup a data exchange definition, but then had not properly linked a bank export/import code to the data exchange definition. (typically these are setup with the same code). so setup the data exchange definition, then create a bank export/import code (search "Bank Export/Import Setup") with that Data Exch. Def. code you just created. then Then on your bank account card, you fill in the "Bank Statement Import format" with a Bank Import/Export code (not a data exchange definition).
