Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

Electronic 1099 / 1096 reporting to the IRS

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Ok, so we are very new to GP- we just went live in November 2014.  Our GP partner overlooked / didn't mention that we send out more than 250 1099s.  We just heard this morning that GP cannot handle electronic filing.  Our old system Sage Platinum for Windows did.

We have been told there is a program by Greenshades that can do this.  From the looks of it, Greenshades does way more than what we need.  We do not use GP for payroll / HR - we currently use Sage Abra for that.

We haven't looked into pricing yet for Greenshades.  Any suggestions?  What do you use?  I'd love to hear the good and the bad for whatever you use.

Thanks!

David

Thanks for the update David. I completely missed that this post started in 2015! I should have realized that when your first post said you went live in November 2014... I guess I forgot we're already in the year 2017!

I forgot I had an id here or posted this.  I usually am on the GPUG web site nowadays.  Anyhow, we have been a Green Shades customer for +/- 2 years now.

    Thanks,

    David

    David,

Greenshades is priced a la carte. If you haven't already spoken with someone, feel free to send me an email and I can get you in touch with someone to review the available options with you. We have thousands of clients who use us for 1099 filing only (either they outsource payroll, or don't use GP Payroll), so the price is typically fairly reasonable.

    My email is chadden@greenshades.com

    Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much!  We'll have to figure out how to get the 1099 info out of GP into a text file, but assuming that's not too hard, it will be at least 1/3 of the cost of using Greenshades!

    Hi David,

I had a similar issue, and Greenshades was suggested to me on this forum, and by our GP partner.

Because we had a 3rd party provider that worked well with our old system, I contacted them and they do integrate with GP 2013.  Their name is Aatrix.  We do use GP for payroll, so my primary interest was in W2s.  (We have very few 1099s.)  But I think they have a fairly à la carte offering, and you may be able to do 1099/1096 only.  I also believe they will allow you to download a fully functioning demo.

We're still working through it, but it looks promising.  They might be worth a call.

    Best of luck!
