Legal Entity Access restriction

Posted on by 5

Hi Team,

We have created a consolidated entity for our reporting purpose and we want to restrict access to anyone to this entity except for very few users.

Can you please help with the steps that we need to follow to restrict access to everyone, as this access is by default available to all the users who has access under "Grant access to all entities" (it's difficult for us to identify each user & restrict access). Hence kindly help us where we can restrict access at entity level.

Please help here.

Thanks in advance.

    RE: Legal Entity Access restriction

To restrict access to a consolidated entity in Business Central, you can follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to the "Access Control" page: Go to the "Users" page and click on the "Access Control" button on the ribbon.

    2. Create a new permission set: In the "Permission Sets" section, click on the "New" button to create a new permission set.

    3. Define the permissions for the consolidated entity: In the "Permissions" section, select the consolidated entity from the list of entities and set the permissions to "None".

    4. Assign the permission set to the users who need access: In the "Permission Set Assignments" section, select the users who need access to the consolidated entity and assign them the permission set you created in step 2.

By setting the permissions for the consolidated entity to "None" in the permission set, you are effectively restricting access to that entity for all users who are assigned that permission set.

Note that users who have been granted access to all entities will still be able to access the consolidated entity unless you remove their "Grant access to all entities" permission or assign them a permission set that restricts access to the consolidated entity.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

This looks like a D365 CE question.
If it is in BC, you can set the access to the table data individually through in Permission Set.

In addition, if you refer to Entities in Word Template, using the above permission management is also effective, which is actually a table.

    RE: Legal Entity Access restriction

When you are talking about an entity, are you then talking about a company in Business Central.

Then you can simply exclude that company when you give permissions to the users that you do not want to access that company.

If it is specific records or table you should look here:
