hi all,

i'm installing axapta 2009 on 1 server(say "AX") and sql server 2005 on separate server(say "SQL"). My sql is sp2.

now when i'm trying to install axapta on AX and i try attaching the database, the dropdown doesn't show the SQL server.

if i try to give the IP of the server SQL directly it gives an error that "Setup could not connect to the database server (the IP address)"

what is the solution to this.

Can any 1 guide me?

     Hi,

There is a drop down consisting of SQL Server Name(s) those are connected through network during DAX 2009 Database Server installation. You have to select right server name from the list and then contunue with database name. If not then after installing DAX, go to server configuration utility. Here under Database (SQL) tab you have to configure database name along with server name of SQL Server Database's Machine. And then try to open DAX.

Note: After completing configuration server conf. utility & before starting DAX Service please check "spId" of DAX Administrator user.

AOS installation doesn't require any additional software to be preinstalled or any specific services to be running but it requires an account under which setup is run to be a member of the Security Administrators (securityadmin) server role on the Ms SQL Server that the AOS will connect to. Alternatively if you have precreated a database then you can complete an AOS installation and then specify the database via the AX server configuration utility.
