Migration of CRM 4.0 SSRS Reports - Query Execution Failed for Dataset 'XXXXX'. (rsErrorExeuctingCommand)

Good afternoon,

I've been migrating our production CRM version in a lab environment before the real move and the main database migration went smoothly, however, SSRS is refusing to play ball.

I've migrated the ReportingServer and ReportingServerTemp databases and restored in their entirety before re-configuring the Report Services Manager to connect to the databases with the correct credentials. Afterwards, I re-installed the CRM 4.0 Reporting Extensions on the new SQL server but nothing changed.

Each time when accessing a report via CRM or via the ReportServer URL it comes up with the following error:

An error has occured during report processing (rsProcessingAborted)

Query execution failed for dataset 'XXXXX'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)

I'm not fully au fait with SSRS besides the basic install and blundering through the report builder so I'm a bit stuck now.

Environment:

CRM 4.0 CU21 on Windows Server 2008 x64

SQL 2014 SP1 on Windows Server 2012 r2 x64

    Hello Dave,

Its seems is the datasource in reporting Services and that is why cant run reports, u need to reconfigure/check the Connection String: MSCRM Data Connector Connection String

This troubleshooting may help u. Link

As a note, CRM 4.0 is only compatible with SQL Server 2012 and older, and even that requires special configuration: support.microsoft.com/.../2686619
