Upgrading a Customer from Dyamics GP 8.0 to 10.0

Hello,

I will be upgrading a customer from 8.0 to 10.0. The documentation from PartnerSource is not clear as to whether there is an upgrade path from 8.0 directly to 10.0, so I'm assuming that there isn't. Am I correct?

Also, are there any other issues to watch out for when I perform the upgrade?

Hi Greg, I forget to mention about GP10 Inventory. If you are using Average Valuation method for your Inventory, you will find an issue in GP10. There is a big change in the calculation. Please check document available on this. Regards, Mohan

Hi Greg, There is direct upgrade path from GP 8.0 with SP5 to GP10. You could check page 9 on upgrade instructions on this. There is a change in the User Security in GP10, this is something you really need to read the upgrade document and understand clearly on that. You may have to recreate User Tasks and User Roles in GP10. Are there any other modules other than Financials and Distribution you are using? If yes, you must go through upgrade document on those specific modules. In my past upgrades, I have not come across any issues when upgrading from 8 to 10. Good luck. Mohan
