Transfer files using a certificate and encryption based on the Triple DES algorithm

I wanted to transfer files from Business Central Cloud to another server using an API call. This is simple, but I need to transfer it using a certificate and encryption/decryption based on the Triple DES algorithm. Is this possible in Business Central AL language?

    Hi,
     
    There is no direct method in AL language to use such encryptions, as the SAAS version doesn't support the .NET Encryption class like the Triple DES Algorithm,
    But it might be possible using Azure Key Vault.
    Another workaround can be
    Build an API (e.g., in Azure Functions or .NET Core) that handles 3DES encryption/decryption. Call it from BC.

    I think in BC, file transfer via API is feasible, but using certificate-based authentication and Triple DES encryption/decryption directly in AL is not supported. AL has limited cryptographic functions, and Triple DES isn't among them. 
     
    For this scenario, you can:
    Use Azure Functions or an external service to handle encryption and secure file transfer.
    Call this service via HttpClient from AL.
     
    Would you go with a hybrid approach involving Azure or external .NET services?

    Implementing file transfer with encryption (such as Triple DES) and certificates directly is not natively supported out-of-the-box. You can use azure function service.
