Hello community.

It has been difficult for us to find a offline-first mobile solution that can provide to our customers with offline capabilities for sales, collecting and marketing activities.

We were searching on Partner community, Microsoft AppSource and Dynamics Community with no luck.

The main feature that we weight when evaluating the solution is the offline capability, that is an offline mobile app that implements a solid sychronization engine interfacing in a transparent way with the backend (Dataverse, Dyn365FO OData, custom services, etc.)

Can you give us some clue where to find a partner that makes mobile apps that integrate with D365FO?

It also would help us if you have a paper or document to share, not related to Dyn365FO, that explains how to deal with the development of this type of application. Specifically, offline-first approach.

I'm not sure about the marketing stuff you are referring to but I think you can Extend the Retail Module (POS) for the Sales and Collection process with Offline capability.

We've been working on Dynamis Retail (now rebranded to Dynamics 365 Commerce) for 10 years. We know the architecture and have made important customizations during last years. We have thought to create a mobile app and take some ideas from the Commerce MPOS Offline mode, but we want to do some research before, check the market offers and have some opinions.

Our customer is a manufaturing firm who is currently running a Dynamics 365 F&O app, heavily customized. To extend their model to a Commerce architecture isn't an option right now. The license upgrading costs would also be an issue.

Any other ideas will be appreciated.

You can have a look at Power Apps. You can read the documentation about offline-first here: docs.microsoft.com/.../work-in-offline-mode

This is currently in a preview. This can sync data between a mobile device and Dataverse.

We know PowerApps is the way to go. We'd read the Power Apps mobile docs and found out that it has its limitations, specifically the storage limitations as it uses the app memory (in-memory collection) to store the data and the documentation shows that its capacity could be between 30 and 70 megabytes. It would fall short to cover our app requirement.

Anyway we continue exploring the chances to use PowerApps in the future and closely follow the updates on offline capabilities.
