Counting Reason Code

Hi team

Is there a way to link this field "Coutning Reason Code" to finances?

For instance, when one is using a counting journal or movement, they are asked to add the reason  code. On posting it hits one of our G accounts "write off"

Then when I do my month end analysis, it would be good to be able to extract the information from my ledger account against the counting reason code.

However, at the moment it is manual, I need to drill down to each transaction, look up via voucher transaction, get to the original journal and see what the reason is. So time consuming!

There must be some way! What report does the counting reason code even come under?

Thanks!

Mia

    Hi Mia,

I don't think so we can do so but what you can try is using financial dimension for reason code so that your financial gets posted with that code.

    Cheers, thanks.

Each stock item has an FD allocated but I need to view the reason code alongside my GL download. So can summarise the reasons and costs that have been allocated to that specific code.

Yeah that will be quite possible if you add one more custom dimension "Reason Code" :)

    Hello Mia,

Made a blog post on this in the past.

Maybe it helps fixing your issue.

    Hi Mia,

One more reason to use a financial dimension is the fact that accounting entries can be summarized for multiple counting or movement lines. Using a financial dimension ensures to have a summary per reason code instead of a total.

    Thanks Andre.
