How set up an automatic task so when an email is sent I am alerted in a few days if there is no reply?

I am trying out microsoft dynamics CRM for my company before we decide to make a purchase a colleague asked me if the following is possible... Can you somehow set up CRM so that when you send an email a followup or task is automatically created that will alert you in "X" amount of days if the email was not responded to. We have an addon for outlook named MAPILab that will do it for us but it would be great if we could roll it up in CRM as a workflow or something

ie...I send an email to John Doe, if John Doe does not respond in 3 days an alert, task, or calendar event pops up to say email him back.

Any ideas?

Sincerely,

Sean Burke

    Sean,

Yes. I can think of a workaround.

If you create workflows that update a field on "John Doe's" profile with the latest date of activity, then the workflow can wait 3 days and run again to check if a newer date has been added, if not, send a notification to the last user who updated that date telling them to follow up with John Doe.

    Does that make sense?

The logic of that makes perfect sense....Now the problem is I am new to creating workflows so we'll see how that goes :) I'll give it a try. Thanks

I am having a similar problem, except instead of getting an alert when an email is not replied to, I want to send out an automated reply every time I receive an email under certain conditions.

I set up a few rules saying if this specific email emails me, a template I created is sent back automatically and then the email I received is forwarded to another email of mine that is away from work.

When I try testing it, nothing happens.

Everything is activated yet nothing works............

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
