Hi,

I've been trying to import a XML file into the Accounts entity in Dynamics CE.

Keep getting error of 'A Duplicate lookup reference was found' for column header Account Type.

Noticed I have two records named School.

What is the best way to resolve this?

Deletion or Edit??

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Can you try deactivatethe other Account Type record to see if it resolve your issue.

If deactivating a record does not work then you will have to rename it to something else and once import is completed you can revert back your changes

    Hi,

The duplicate record is referenced and prevented to delete. In my opinion, you can merge both records. Or you can check all references and remove them delete but this will occur another issue.

    Hi,

Thank you both for your answers.

The issue I had was in one of my Sandbox environments but luckily my other Sandbox doesn't have the duplication of the Account Type Schools and neither does my Live environment.

This resolved the Account Type lookup issue.

Still having issues with the Region lookup as it seems the parent tag and tag are causing confusion. My data only contains the tag information?  Any ideas how can resolve this?

Also I've been using the Templates for Data Import but the main data is contained in a xsls format which I can save to either xml or csv format.  Would this work just a well as if I used the Template?  I know the template as some hidden fields that shouldn't be modified.

Best way is use GUID instead of record name. If GUID will be present it will update record else create new one.

Second way is you can rename duplicate records for sometime and when import is completed rename again like before.

By using a unique field from the lookup entity you can resolve this error. Please refer below article:

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
