Difference between Server Side Synchronization and Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Outlook Synchronization Method

Tried searching for the difference of the two but only got answer for Server Side Synchronization.

The result I was getting  for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Outlook Synchronization was only about the Plugin/add on in Outlook.

Need help with the explanation of the two Synchronization Method options.

    In short:

    Dynamics for Outlook will only sync when there's a running outlook client with the plugin installed. (Client-Side)

    The Server-Side Sync (built in in CRM) / E-Mail Router (needs to be hosted) will work without any clients needed (Server-Side)

    Thanks Alex! Another question:

    For Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Outlook method, should appointment created from CRM sync in Outlook? We are using CRM on-premise.
