Creating units of measure

Posted on by 310

I was asked to create a new unit of measure for our Procurement team.  Does anyone know how/where to create this?

So do they just want the word 'Lot' to show up on the PO, or is supposed to mean something used somehow by the system?

You can type any UOM you want into the PO Entry window if the item is not an inventory item.  it doesn't setup a UOM, per se, because you aren't using the Inventory module, which is where UOMs are setup.

I need to enter a unit of measure for ordering purposes.  Our Procurement team wants to select Lot instead of each when ordering product.  Does that fall within the Inventory module, because we don't have Inventory as an option?  Is there somewhere else I can add a unit of measure for ordering purposes?

Unit of Measure is used to measure your inventory quantities. After setup the UofM from the Unit of Schedule window(MS Dynamics GP-->Tools-->Setup-->Inventory--> Unit of schedule ID), go to the Item maintenance window(Cards-->Inventory-->Item) to create a inventory and assign your desired UofM.

What if I don't have Inventory as an option?  After setup, Inventory is not listed.

Go to: MS Dynamics GP-->Tools-->Setup-->Inventory--> Unit of schedule ID. From this window you can create a UofSchedule ID and assign it to your desired inventory items(Cards-->Inventory-->Item).

    Hope this helps!!!
