Hide old Activity Feeds automatically

We would like to start using the Activity Feeds feature of CRM, but a few people have complained that it's annoying having old posts and Auto Posts showing.

1)  Is it easy to disable Auto Posts for the whole organization?  Can we have only new user-generated Activities shown, eg, only when someone creates an Appointment for an Account?

2) Is it easy to set old posts to hide, eg, after 1 month so that only new posts are visible?

I went into Settings >> Activity Feeds Configuration & Activity Feeds Rules, but I can' see a way to do anything like this.

Many thanks for any advice.

I was hoping for an actual answer and not just a copy/paste of links that I'd have to trawl through.

Is anyone actually able to answer my question?
