What is the best way to rename Window/Report labels?

I want to rename labels in multiple Windows and Reports and I was wondering which would be the best way to go with the least effort.

By default I know that the modifier allows renaming labels, however, it is a one by one window/report approach. On the other hand, I saw that Dexterity allows modifications in mass through the String resources; my concern with the latter is that changes are done directly to the application dictionary (i.e. HRM.dic) and I’m afraid of losing those changes when a new version of GP comes.

Does anybody know how to change labels in a safe way and without going item by item?
