Anti Virus for RMS Registers

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

I have 5 stores with 2-3 registers each and my main office runs an HQ server.  I  have virus issues on my registers.  What's a good AV solution for my RMS environment?

Thanks.

JD

I highly recommend Avast as a good stable antivirus. If  a pc has virus it would be good to scan with a few different antiviruses. Like avast and malwarebytes antimalware.

The free version of Avast will do just fine.

I have found Microsoft Security Essentials to work rather well for my clients thus far.  It protects against malware and spyware in addition to viruses which is nice.  One of the best points of it is that it is free.  Just go to Microsoft.com/downloads and search for it.

Avast! is only free to home users.   Symantec Corp AntiVirus and Malwarebytes keeps up protected

We suggest Microsoft Security Essentials too, but the catch is that it is only free to small business with 10 or less computers.  Now if theose store are their own entities, your good to go.

Otherwise we go with Norton's Internet Security or Symantec's Endpoint.  Endpoint can be managed by the server, whereas NIS is standalone and less expensive. MSE is also standalone, MS does have their Forefront for that.

We also use SuperAntSpyware free version or upgrade them to  the Pro version for its additional options.  The free version is allowed in business environments, while the Malwarebytes suggested by Wil is not.

We use Eset NOD32 on all machines now. It's very stable, has low resource usage and excellent detection rates. We also use Malwarebytes and SpywareBlaster to avoid issues. Firefox with Adblock Plus and NoScript are also used as the primary browsers to avoid infection to begin with. Make sure you are behind a router with a hardware firewall at the very least and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on if you aren't using another 3rd party firewall. You may also wish to look into using the free version of OpenDNS to prevent access from dangerous sites on your whole network.

I would recommend AVG and sign up as a Partner/Reseller for a Discount.  You then can purchase direct on line.
