I am facing this issue, Whenever i open the table field properties and go to extended data type dropdown and try to select the dropdown, It just gets freeze and i am not able to see any EDTs under dropdown.
As of now I am directly copy the pasting the EDT or typing.
How can we overcome this issue, closing the VS and opening again also did not solve.

You've asked in the general forum and didn't specify which product it's about, but I'm assuming it's F&O and therefore I've moved the question to Finance | Project Operations, Human Resources, AX, GP, SL forum.
Does it happen with all fields? When did it start happening? Didn't you install an update, for instance?
