Backorders showing in inquiry but they are not really backordered

Hello,

I am wondering what is going wrong with our backorder process.  Every month when we get a shipment in, I run a backorder process.  I then run a smartlist to see if anything was missed.  So my smartlist shows qty on hand, qty allocated, qty available, and qty on backorder.  We have a few items that will show that we have 5 available and 3 on backorder and if i go into inquiry it also shows 3 on backorder but if I look at all of our open backorder documents in SOP, there are not any backorders.  So it is almost like they are stuck.  Hopefully someone will have some insight as our list seems to keep growing.

Thank you,

Katie

    Hi Katie,

Where you able to fix this issue? I am having the same problem. I made a copy to a test company, and removed all the Back Order Documents, and the Generator still generating items showing back order in Item Inquiry.

Let us know if this is solved and how.

    Thanks

RE: Backorders showing in inquiry but they are not really backordered

It has been awhile since I have been able to work on this problem again but we still have not been able to resolve this.  I was wondering if anyone else might have some insight.  So for example on the item inquiry screen we have an item xx343.  It shows On Hand 35 Allocated 0 available 35 sold 278 backordered 1.  We do not have any open backorders for this item so the backordered qty should be zero.  I started digging into this item more and I noticed that our sales history is not right.  It says that the current year sold is 278.  Well I physically added them up and we have not sold that many.  We sold 278 in 2014 and 2015.  So it looks like the inventory module was not cleared out at the end of the 2014 year.  I am now wondering if this would have something to do with the problem backorder.  Does anyone know if the fields on the item inquiry screen are open or history fields?  Thanks for any help.

I have spoken with my partner and we have tried that.  It did not clean up anything.  She is submitting a case, but I thought I would also check here to see if anyone else has ever ran into this problem.

    Thank you,

    Hi Katie,

When is the last time you reconciled the sales and inventory modules? Doing so might get these cleaned up for you.

    Kirk

Yes I do.  We have one item that has not been sold since 2013 but on the inquiry screen it still shows we have 1 on backorder so it is like it is stuck.

    Hi Katie,

Are you checking for backordered line items on all document types? I am not sure if all types allow backorders but we regularly have backorders on our Order documents. We normally use the Sales--Sales Line Items Smartlist with a few modifications to check for backorders across all document types.

    Regards,

    Kirk
